Black Swan

Blimey.

I had read that this film was heavily slanted towards psychological thriller territory rather than being just a 'ballet film', but I really, really, didn't know to expect something quite so disturbing. It's an accomplished and superbly acted film, despite the odd jarringly unbelievable note (the party-girl rival dancer), but far more than that, it's a genuinely scary glimpse into the consciousness of someone who is simultaneously achieving their dream and losing their mind. After seeing this last night, I've been getting flashbacks of the most terrifying and wince-inducing moments all day. As they would say in this country: 'Heftig'.
